I have followed several tutorials and still can't figure out why a custom sms ring tone won't play on my iphone 3g?

Here's what I've done:

I have an iphone 3g and did update to 3.0 os and have the RedSnow 3.0 jailbreak installed!

In vista, I unchecked "hide extensions for known file types" in the control panel under folder options.

Using WavePad I converted an sms custom ring tone (6Sec in length) to .aif and then switched the file to sms-recieved2.caf (to replace the chime tone).

I used both winwcp and iPhonebrowser and put the file into the uisounds folder!

I did delete the original sms-recieved2.caf file(Chime Tone) as directed to in all the tutorials I have followed!

I previewed the custom sms tone in iphone browser and it played with no issues.

Unplugged my iphone from the usb and then opened the settings tab and chose sms alert tones and when selected the Chime tone there was no sound at all.

Is there something I am missing or not doing properly?

Please help.

Sorry, but he is in the Iphone 3G, not in the 3GS... The iPhone 3G (Rev. 2) is the 3G. Rev 1 is 2G, Rev 2 is the 3G, etc.

Did you try to reboot the iphone?

you you use winterboard?
if so any themes?
if u apply a theme it will overite your personal uploads
in winterboard, uncheck any themes that has UI sounds bundled with it
