Default Need help on a 3G US Phone (!!)

    Hi,

I'm roaming in Montana right now on an AT&T 3G iphone. I'm having HUGE problems with the networks here. The only two GSM providers are Cellone and Alltel (who owns some GSM towers here).

Every 100feet I travel or so the carrier switches from Cellone to Alltel, ofcourse it always says AT&T. When I am connected to the Cellone towers all is great, I have edge and good reception. In this area the Alltel towers are old and only have GPRS. So when I am connected to those I lose edge and the reception goes to hell.

I don't know what to do! I can't manually select a carrier because (I assume) it is a locked phone and att doesn't allow that.

Is there any way to force one network over another using ssh, plists, etc ??? If the phone is unlocked (come'on dev team!) will that setting appear ?

Also, if the phone is unlocked and I am allowed to select which carrier I want I won't need a custom carrier bundle correct (since I have an att bundle already)?

Thanks to anyone that can supply me a little information, this is killing me since I will be spending large amounts of time in the area.

    Really ? No one ?

I just need to know if when an unlock is released if the manual select will show up ?

If it doesn't then I'm seriously screwed.

    Anyone ?
