Member Jim Danner has posted a solution for Windows here

Once you opened the file you'll see a section

Code:
	<key>apns</key>
	<array>
		<dict>
			<key>apn</key>
			<string>here_goes_your_apn</string>
			<key>password</key>
			<string>here_goes_your_apn_password</string>
			<key>username</key>
			<string>here_goes_your_apn_username</string>
		</dict>
	</array>
Use copy/paste/edit to make it look like this

Code:
	<key>apns</key>
	<array>
		<dict>
			<key>apn</key>
			<string>here_goes_your_apn</string>
			<key>password</key>
			<string>here_goes_your_apn_password</string>
			<key>username</key>
			<string>here_goes_your_apn_username</string>
		</dict>
		<dict>
			<key>apn</key>
			<string>here_goes_your_apn2</string>
			<key>password</key>
			<string>here_goes_your_apn_password2</string>
			<key>username</key>
			<string>here_goes_your_apn_username</string>
		</dict>
	</array>
Fill in your APN(s)..., save and replace the file on the iPhone. make sure to have an original carrier.plist on your PC just in case you screw up.

Good luck,

hi, i pretty much just stumbled upon this while i was looking to see if this was the case...

that was exactly what i was about to do but just wanted to check to see if it'll work how i want...
basically i have 2 sim cards for my iphone 3g running 4.0.1 - one is a work number and one is a private number - i switch them in and out depending on the time of day and its a real pain having to sort the apn out everytime
(one is o2 the other is t-mobile)
would this method work so that both apns are stored and then when the sim is changed out the iphone will select the relevant one?
if not do you know of any way it can be done or an app that may accomplish it?
i used to just have another phone (not iphone) but its just hassle as all my contacts are on the 3g and neatly sorted with apps etc...

any help would be great, cheers in advance
