Hi, I am new to the forum however i am aware that this subject has been bounced around for a while, yet i do not know of any actual solution, if one even exists..

I am running with a Iphone 3G i lost my 3GS long story.. anyway my 3G is running 4.2.1 my problem is i have no power button, as a result i cannot get to DFU mode to jailbreak. Not only that but as i cannot reach DFU mode i cannot downgrade.

I have tried using the software that allow the user to use iBSS.m68ap.RELEASE.dfu i have even located the iBSS#####.dfu that matches my phone, but i have had no success. I even tried the renaming of the iBSS as this did nothing at all.

I would appreciate any ideas??

I've answered this before:
For the iPhone 3G - you have three options:

1. deliberately corrupt LLB (technique demonstrated by musclenerd) - this only works with custom IPSW/full restore type jailbreaks
2. There is a beta tool from the iPhoneLinux team (untested by me) that can enter DFu mode (mac only)
3. Downgrade to iOS 3.1.2 and use blackra1n to pwn the phone. Then restore your desired OS via pre-jailbroken custom IPSW (won't work with 4.1 or 4.2.1)
