    Default missing carrier logo

    i have had "nehvada" instead of the carrier logo ever since. but yesterday i decided to do a full restore caus i wanna sell it (got a 3Gs). after lots of trouble and severel attemps it finally worked. but now i got full signal but no carrier logo at all with my simcard. if i insert a legal simcard from t-mobile the logo shows up instantly saying "t-mobile". but if i put in some other simcard there is simply nothing, just signal bars.

    so i used MIM from erica again to change it. that works as long as i type in something, but when i leave it blank to reset its again empty.

    any idea?

    What baseband and OS are you running?

    No carrier logo/text is a known problem with os 3.1.x and baseband 04.26.08

    upgrading to baseband 05.11.07 fixes this but breaks ultrasn0w unlock so is currently only recommended for factory unlocked iPhones.

    And here is the solution aviegas found on this problem

    The result is that with the MCC+MNC iPhoneOS can correctly identify the proper carrier bundle. But without a carrier name it cannot find a StatusBarImage, aka carrier logo. When there is no match for a StatusBarImage carrier name string, whatever is reported is display as text. Since the baseband is reporting an empty sting, nothing is displayed: just the bars and the data indicator (E/3G).

    But there is a simple an generic solution: add an extra entry in the StatusBarImages arrary, this one for matching with an empty string! It works and the logo properly displays.
    So what you need is a custom carrier bundle, then add the following lines (marked blue) in carrier.plist; the example shows off o2:

    Code:
    	<key>StatusBarImages</key>
    	<array>
    		<dict>
    			<key>AllowPrefixMatching</key>
    			<true/>
    			<key>CarrierName</key>
    			<string>o2</string>
    			<key>DefaultImage</key>
    			<string>Default_CARRIER_o2.png</string>
    			<key>FullScreenOpaqueImage</key>
    			<string>FSO_CARRIER_o2.png</string>
    		</dict>
    		<dict>
    			<key>AllowPrefixMatching</key>
    			<true/>
    			<key>CarrierName</key>
    			<string></string>
    			<key>DefaultImage</key>
    			<string>Default_CARRIER_o2.png</string>
    			<key>FullScreenOpaqueImage</key>
    			<string>FSO_CARRIER_o2.png</string>
    		</dict>
    	</array>
