Just bought an iphone 3G...in trouble... Please Help...!!!
Hi
I reside in India and i asked a friend of mine to get an Iphone 3G from the UK. He bought a "pay as you go" Iphone which is not on a contract. It is locked to the O2 network though, hence the need to unlock
Now the phone is working on Version 2.2.1 and has a modem firmware 2.30.03(the boot loader is 6.02, as someone told me).
What i want to know is the following
1)Can it be unlocked ?
2)If yes, can i do it myself ?
3)Can the fact that my boot loader is 6.02, stop me from unlocking ?
[PS: i got the phone jailbreaked, i guess, the cydia and installer icons appear on the phone... i am totally new to the whole iphone thing...]
Any help would be really really appreciated...
Thanks

The phone cannot be fully unlocked as yet.
No software unlock is available for BB 2.30.03 as yet
I got an 'iSmartphone' SIM off here and it works fine.
I have a fully functioning phone on Vodafone in the UK and I can get 3G working, but I have to disable this to be able to receive calls and texts....
Hopefully the Dev team will release a soft unlock for BB 2.30.03 soon

thank you steviemac...
well the problem is that the turbosim's available here are really crappy... they just stop working after 4-5 hours...(if u enter a place where there's no network... it just refuses to pick up a network again...)
Is there any chance that i could send the phone back to the UK and have O2 unlock, i dont reside there and besides i paid the full amount for the phone... oh and can i perhaps get my phone locked to a carrier in India... is that possible ?
ANY TIME FRAME AS TO WHEN THE UNLOCK WILL BE AVAILABLE ?
