    Default Jailbreak for n00b

    Hey

I'm totally new to this but I want to jailbreak my iPhone 3g (3.1.3).

What is the best/easiest way to do it? What package should I use (Spirit etc.) I use Windows XP if that makes a difference.

Are there any precautions I should take before doing it to save my contacts/apps/music etc other than syncing with iTunes?

    Thanks

    Dan

My strongest recommendation though is to ditch the soon unsupported XP and buy or borrow a mac, use pwnagetool iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak Your iPhone 3G on OS 3.1.3 Using PwnageTool (Mac) this is the safest and best long term jailbreak.

If you must stick with XP, then you have options. All of which have been outlined before. It would be smarter to search rather than open a new thread.

iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak Your iPhone 3G on OS 3.1.2, 3.1.3 Using RedSn0w (Windows)
    or
iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak Your iPhone Using Spirit (Windows) [3.1.2, 3.1.3]

Spirit is new and exciting, but I would go with redsn0w - it's safe and reliable. There have been reports of minor bugs/issues with spirit so it is best to leave the initial testing of a new jailbreak to more experienced users)

A manual sync/backup is always recommended before any change like jailbreaking.

Thread closed, post in existing redsn0w or spirit threads if you have questions.
