    I had this on my first gen, the only thing i could do was down grade itunes to 7.5 and restore to 1.14 but since this is a 3G iphone, maybe just try restoring to factory firmware first.

    yeah, tried just pressing restore, and itunes downloads the newest firmware. it did exactly the same thing, because its the exact same firmware i was pointing to when i shift+clicked it

    Ive also downgraded to itunes 7.5 as suggested by some other people, doesnt make much difference, i can coax it into giving me different errors (6) and 1600. still no relief.

    any other ideas?

    Have you tried it on a mac and a PC?

    If your just trying on PC's or Macs that may make a difference.

    My advice to you is just keep trying.

    You could make a new custom firmware without cydia or custom logos and try that?

    Apple would not know the difference that way and it MAY work... you never know!
    iPhone US 8GB
    FW 1.0.2--> iUnlock--> iPhoneSIMfree--> 1.1.1 --> 1.1.2--> Soft upgrade 1.1.3 --> 1.1.4 using signal.app
    iPhone UK 16GB
    FW 1.1.3 OOB --> 1.1.4 --> iPlus 1.2 unlocked!

    <----If I helped you out, rep points are always nice (thanks for that idea!)

    alright! calm down man! i been in the same situation before and i felt piss because i'm legit (at&t). Well, i guess it just random happen when you receipt errors 1600,1601,1602,and 1604 or even error (6). What really happen is that itunes 7.7 detect you using fake filmware (custom) i guess. So, when you connect to itunes and try to restore, it'll "preparing iphone to restore...." and then it'll pop up the errors listed above. If you're using window. Go to "add/remove software" uninstall "bonjour". "itunes", "Apple Mobile Device Support"....After do all that hit "restart computer". When the computer is up, Install itunes 7.5-7.6 (remember: you'll can't start the itunes after it's finish because it'll say "device.itl" or something from the previous filmware is still in the folder). Don't worry, go to apple.com website and grab the itunes 7.7 and hit install the fresh itunes. Now try to Restore the iphone again.

    Another method that i find it somehow useful is that : try Create a new User using "Add or Remove user Account" in window. Then log on using the new user. Open up itunes, they'll start download the fresh update and hopefully will fully restore your iphone.

    My iphone been f&&&k up before with all the errors (160x, 6). After doing all that stuff. So, i just uninstall the itunes then shut down my computer (at night). Then reinstall itunes on the morning then do the restore. It just lucky(i guess) that i can fully restore my phone without any errors. (sometime my pc can't even recognize my iphone....they said "malfunction...device"......)

    ok... lets try this once more... I posted it on your previous thread but it went away
    If you use windows, go to start->run-> %appdata%
    Open "Apple Computer", Open "iTunes", check if there is a folder named "Device Support".
    If the folder exists, delete any contents inside, if the folder does not exist create it. Make sure you empty the recycle bin.

    If you use mac, go to "user name"\Library\iTunes\, check if there is a folder named "Device Support".
    If the folder exists, delete any contents inside, if the folder does not exist create it. Make sure you empty the recycle bin.

    Connect your iPhone to the computer and put your iPhone in DFU mode. Once you see it pop up in iTunes, hold shift or option (depending on your os) and click restore. Locate your custom firmware and repwn....

    Have fun.

    P.S. - You must have iTunes 7.7 to perform update.
