Hello everyone, I have an Iphone 3g 8gb, and it locked itself today.Previously I was running 3.1.2 I think and it was unlocked with blackra1n.
I want to unlock it again, but after doing restore on my itunes, I am unsure of what OS I am running. When I put my sim card in only thing itunes says is that it is an unsupported sim card (t-mobile).

---I was wondering if anyone knows how to find out what firmware I have without being able to get into the phone.

It only gives me the emergency call option.

If you guys could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

---Also, any suggestions on best unlocking technique?

Run TinyUmbrella The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella with the iPhone connected via USB. It will report iOS version and baseband.

Can't make any recommendations without knowing what baseband and iOS version you have.

baseband 5.13.04 and lower can be unlocked with ultrasn0w. If it is 5.14.02 then you need to wait as there is no unlock for that version yet.
The right version of Redsn0w can be used to jailbreak any released iOS version on a 3G iPhone. redsn0w 0.9.2 [iPhone Dev Team] will jailbreak 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 or redsn0w 0.9.6 BETA [iPhone Dev Team] will jailbreak 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2 or 4.1
