More information required. Did you use the blacksn0w unlock?
Have you generated a syslog of the iphone bootup and posted it on a paste site?
Without additional information - I can say that no wifi on a 3G might be one of the following.
- hardware (for example internal connection to antenna is broken/unstable)
- corrupted baseband (often due to blacksnow)
- misconfigured wifi router or iOS incompatibility with specific router firmwares
- openssh/ssh toggle in SBSettings (try removing and reinstalling these)

Yes i used blacksnow unlock when wifi was working now i use ultrasnow.i have baseband 05.12.04.i upgraded to 4.0 then downgraded to 3.1.2.When i do erase all content and settings my iphone gets into a boot chain loop (restarting after every 4 or 6 min ,only shows apple logo) and i have to restore. You said that my baseband might be corrupt how do i check that???

When you erase all content and settings your iPhone will always go into the apple logo lop. That is normal/expected behaviour. You have wiped your operating system by choosing erase all content and settings.
Unlikely your baseband is corrupt if you managed to upgrade it.
It's likely one of the other problems I listed. As I said.. without a pastebin of your syslog I can't help you further.

Did you search the forum like we keep on suggesting? The answers are often in existing threads. For example:

Hi There!
Greetings from Portugal! I read a couple post about this, so most likely I'll be repetitive! Sorry about that!
I purchased an Iphone 3GS in the US and brought it back to Portugal for my daughter.
Got in the jaillbreak process and actually managed to get it up and running except for the Operator Connection. Had wifi and all, but couldn't get call done or received.
Got everything, Redsnow, Clydia, Rocky Racoon, Ultrasnow and such, but still didn't move. I was told to hit baseband, which I did. But from then on, no wifi at all. Besides, get the silver Apple logo, then 2 minutes into it, seems to be restoring and goes back to silver logo only.
I think I fried the baseband thing...
But if someone out there can give me an helpinh hand, would apreciate!
Thanks and Regards
Fernando
