[iPhone 3G] What's your 2.0 Firmware build version ?
I purchased my iPhone 3G yesterday at the Apple Cube in New York City (5th Avenue), and the version of the 2.0 firmware is 5A345. I believe that the current version is 5A347. When I tried to do an update in iTunes, I received the message that the iPhone had the most recent firmware.
I know that I can just download firmware 5A347 onto my iPhone and update it manually, but is there any significant difference between 5A345 and 5A347? Is 5A347 just for individuals who are restoring firmware 2.0? Overall, will I get any added benefit from updating from 5A345 to 5A347?
Let me know if anybody had firmware 5A347 on their iPhones. Thank you for any input!!

The software wasn't finished when Apple had to ship the phones, so they shipped them with Beta 8 of 2.0 (5A345). If you run a restore on your iPhone 3G it will automatically download 5A347 and put it on for you.
Obviously the final version is more stable, so it would be a good idea to update.

Thanks. I will do a restore. I was just finding it odd that the updated version is not being picked up in iTunes 7.7! The 5A345 build seems to have some lag issues when running apps and issues with connecting to WiFi and cellular service, so I hope that 5A347 is vastly improved! I was also having problems connecting the Remote app to my iTunes on a Windows Vista machine, but I thought that was because of Vista. I hope that this issue will be resolved as well!

Well with the Remote app it seems many people are having that issue too.
iPhone "2G" - 3.1.3 - Jailbroken + iPhoDroid
iPhone 4 - 4.0.2 - Not jailbroken (yet)

Thanks for the update. Do you know if those people updated to build 5A347? It shouldn't make a difference with respect to the applications themselves, as I assume that Apple didn't make any changes to anything in the firmware that would affect the applications (or the developers would all have to tweak their apps), but there may be a better WiFi and cellular connection - let's hope so! In the meantime, I will do a search for the issues that people are having with Remote.
