Unhappy iphone 3g update to 3.0 stucks

    Hi

    I got italian unlocked iphone 3g 8gb 2.2 pwn,
few days earlier i got a message for no reason that my iphone can't make calls and should be restored, when started restore it stooped with a error and whenever i trying to restore to any version in any mode (also in dfu and recovery) i got error 23 or 16xx (when in dfu)

When the 3.0 just came out i tried to update but it stuck after few seconds when on itunes appears "preparing your iphone". on my iphone i see that it doing restart and stucks on blank screen (or sometimes on white screen) and itunes shows the error 23 or 16xx.

tried to downgrade to any older version with no success, only modified fw can be burned, but after that i got no wifi no imei no nothing ..

i think my problem is baseband (tried also to check with minicom but can initialize the modem)

do anybody know if there any option to burn/re-flash the baseband on iphone 3g ? and manipulation that can be done ? i saw many first-gen utilities - is any of them has analog for 3g ?

thanks a lot for any information
    hope to find the solution.

first thing you cannot downgrade from 3.0 using standard methods. ( i sucseeded downgrading with a quickpwn RC3 method posted on another thread)

Have you tried to upgrade to 3.0 in DFU mode using shift restore? also make sure your using itunes 8.2 the latest when you do this. No reason why this should not work for you.

    yes, 8.2 (the latest)
tried in DFU - recieving 16xx errors, in normal mode i got error 23.
the device/update stucks in the same place - preparing iphone for restore and the device make reset and stucks.

can you confirm your trying to shift + restore 3.0 in dfu mode? not 2.x? as 2.x you cannot restore to 2.x like this.

Try on a computer not running Vista.

    yes,
actually tried both 2.x and 3.0 in dfu mode (of course with shift+restore or alt+restore on mac)

Your symptoms are typical of the problems on Vista (there seems to be a USB driver error) but you shouldn't be getting the problems on XP or OSX 10.5.7

16xx errors usually mean you are trying to load a lower FW although you do get them with Vista when you are trying to upgrade.

Error 23 could be a Hardware error . You sound like you know what you are talking about but just to be sure:
You are using an orriginal cable?
You entered DFU Mode by starting with the phone turned off, hold Powere button for 3 seconds, home and power button for 10 seconds and home button only for 30 seconds?
If it still doesn't restore on an XP machine it looks like a hardware fault to me - unless someone else can sugest something else?

    Good luck.

    Thanks for reply,

I think my problem is the baseband aka software for modem and etc ..
i made my custom fw with ssh/ssl and i success to ssh into iphone via iusbtunnel. but the problem is that minicom could not initialize the modem on /dev/tty.debug
actually, i looking for somebody than knows how to erase and re-flash the baseband.
anybody can help ? or maybe anybody knows the right contact ?

    Thanks
