[iPhone 3G] UK O2 Idea To Get Phone With No Contract
Two Words.
Cooling Off. Period..... OK three words
Will it be possible for me to buy an o2 iPhone 3G - take out a contact and then cancel it within 14 days. My friend did this with the iPhone 1st Gen and I unlocked it for him so he could use his work SIM Card ie; free calls.
Anyone any suggestions/ideas to this?

Sorry to rain on your parade but you'll have to return you shiny new toy to Apple if you cancel within 14 days.. If you don't they'll charge you the full price whatever it is.. that's the way it's said to be in the US.. YMMV for UK (o2) though.. And to tell you the truth that's exactly what anyone with half a brain would try to do.. So cool off, that won't work.. Apple is not that stupid...

Care to explain where Apple come into a binding contract between XX and O2? I see only an O2 agreement being signed on site in store etc.
I have an iPhone - but was suggesting this as a method as a friend did this last year. So you aren't raining on my parade.

Well, ok, you return it to O2, not Apple.. Does it make any difference who you return your phone to if you're forced to return??
Anyway, like I said that's how early termination works Stateside... And I wouldn't compare Apple's/O2's current policy to that of last year since they obviously changed a lot regarding iphone sales...
