iPhone 3g stuck in DFU mode (will not restore)
I got a 16gb iPhone 3g from someone and it is stuck in DFU mode.
I have attempted to restore it with iTunes but it gets to "verifying iPhone restore" and stays there. The little bar on the iPhone gets to almost halfway below the Apple icon and freezes there. I let it run all night a couple times and same thing.
I have tried to use ZiPhone, QuickPwn, and WinPwn but nothing seems to work. ZiPhone says I have to use iTunes. QuickPwn and WinPwn crash.
I do not know what firmware was on the iPhone and have used all the iPhone 3g firmware to attempt the restore but they react the same way.
Any advice?

Firmware
I tried the following:
iPhone1,2_2.0_5A347_Restore
iPhone1,2_2.1_5F136_Restore
iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore
iPhone1,2_2.2.1_5H11_Restore
iPhone1,2_3.0_7A280f_Restore
I also tried some of the non 3G iPhone restores but they were not compatible and I verified via the serial number that the phone is in fact 3G.
The phone is still under warranty so I am taking it to the Apple store today.

If you've tried all that then going back to apple sounds like the best idea to me.

Lol. I had the same thought. I was hoping to get it myself or with help from these forums but alas I must submit to Apple.
Thank you guys for your help though.

So I went to the Apple store and they said the water submersion sensor in the audio jack was tripped ans thus my warranty is void.
No idea where to go from here.

you shoulda said... "well you see i accidently spilled water in the jack but it was having problems before then, anyways what do yall recommend even if the warranty is 'void'"
better yet aint it void if you get it off of someone else anyways??
and was it like that when you got it from the person???
ACTUAL HELP lol --- have you tried it on different computers? if not try a few more computers to restore it normally

Currently it should work on iOS 4.x - 6.x

lol, yeah I told the guy that I know it was not submerged as was evident by the lack of water damage on the screen, etc. He started looking at it with a light but said even so if that sensor tape changes from white to any shade of pink/red Apple will reject any repairs as a voided warranty.
Not sure.
Yes, although they said it started doing that one day and they had no idea why. I asked about water damage, etc and they said none.
Lol, I did actually try it on 3 different computers.
I am considering just taking it apart and trouble shooting it myself as the warranty is already void. Otherwise I might send it out to an iPhone repair company.

i would send it out cuz if your not that familiar with iphone repair theres not much chance youll get it back together in one peice

I had taken it apart before I received this post and as much of a computer geek as I am this thing is so damn small, lol.
I should be good but for anyone else reading this thread that has never dealt with micro miniature repair, leave it to the pros, lol.
On that note, no internal signs of water damage and that sensor strip is at the bottom of the audio jack which basically to me is a way for Apple to save money by voiding warranties. Shady if you ask me.
