Default [iPhone 3g] [Solved] Ringtones won't copy to phone

I used to use that trick for setting an existing song for 30 seconds, exporting to AAC, and renaming the file to m4r and dragging it back in and then syncing it to the iphone. When I try it now using iTunes 8.0.2.20 with 2.2 firmware, the ringtone gets added to the library in iTunes but it doesn't appear in the phone, even though it's configured to sync them. I looked online and don't see any references to this breaking with 8.0.2 / 2.2 so does anyone have any ideas what might be up? This is the PC version BTW.

After more searching I tried iringer.exe and for some reason that works fine even though the manual method doesn't. Strange.. At least I have a workaround though.
