Default [Iphone 3g][Problem] Can not restore, stuck in recovery

Last night, for 2 hrs, i tried to pwn my phone using winpwn. Well, I was trying to put my phone into DFU and it never recovered after that. Itunes won't recognize my phone and now it's in recovery mode.

When iTunes does recognize and I hit restore, I get an error that it cannot be restored.

Please help. I appreciate any advice

is my phone bricked? can't restore..been trying for the last 24hrs. put it in dfu mode and it keeps booting back to recovery

whenever i hit restore, it extracts software and right when it says "preparing phone for restore" my phone reboots and it either gives the error i stated before, (6) or error (13).

I had the same problem, and it turned out that apparently I was only in Recovery Mode, not in DFU mode (In DFU mode the screen is black, whereas in Recovery Mode you have the iTunes/Dock Cable logo).

Restoring with a custom firmware works only in DFU mode!

If you use windows, go to start->run-> %appdata%
Open "Apple Computer", Open "iTunes", check if there is a folder named "Device Support".
If the folder exists, delete any contents inside, if the folder does not exist create it. Make sure you empty the recycle bin.

If you use mac, go to "user name"\Library\iTunes\, check if there is a folder named "Device Support".
If the folder exists, delete any contents inside, if the folder does not exist create it. Make sure you empty the recycle bin.

Connect your iPhone to the computer and put your iPhone in DFU mode. Once you see it pop up in iTunes, hold shift or option (depending on your os) and click restore. Locate your custom firmware and repwn....

    Have fun.

P.S. - You must have iTunes 7.7 to perform update.

    Default 3G iPhone

It is June 2010 and your posting of July 2008 has saved the day! I have had to restore my 3G iPhone about every two days for the last several weeks but today no matter what I did, I couldn't restore. I tried on several computers, trashed and re-installed iTunes but nothing worked. Your suggestion to delete the contents of the Device Support folder was brilliant and worked!

Thank you very much. My phone just needs to function for another two weeks and then I will replace it with the new 4G.
