    I wisited a vodafone store today and i found out that the iphone will be selling for around 500-550 US$ or Rs.21,000 (india) and since there is no contract obligations in india u dont have to sign up any where. and it is availble on pay as u go (pre-paid)

    so if u want a no contract iphone 3G (locked to vodafone india) come to india and pick one up.. ...... but ur gonna have to wait for 3G hactivation to be available to use the iphone as a phone, but the dev team works fast......im guessing its gonna take like a month to unlock:iphone:

    and it also needs to be hack unlocked

    In 'most' of the world, and that price clearly only ever referred to contract subsidised pricing, as seen in most of the world.

    @lordofdaflies

    maybe the iPhone in India will be available to postpaid customers only.

    Maybe they will do it like Airtel and Blackberry.

    Don't really know what will happen untill it actually comes out or the plans are announced. And trust me, those people in the Vodafone store dont know anything. Anything...

    @lordofdaflies

    i know that plans in India are cheapest they can get...
    one cannot find a cheaper plan anywhere in the world.

    but the unlimited data could be a little costly if you ask me.

    Also , as we dont have any 3G as yet.. we will just have the slow edge which we already have on the current iPhone.

    our data plans are crazy @ 20 us$ for just 1.5 GB
    In the advert given in the paper it says that that only 2G services available so im hoping the data plan is not needed coz im not payin Rs 800 when i can just use my wifi
