Default Iphone 3G IMEI 004999010640000 after updated

Anyone experience this issue with their 3G? After update to 2.2 iphone not automatic activate, not sure what was wrong. Finally check the IMEI then find out that the IMEI changed to default. Did restore to 2.2 3 times but not fix Imei.
I fixed this problem with 2G phone before but haven't on the 3G.
Any solution for the 3G yet?

did you try: pwntool with active or not active ? then tell us the condition of the phone, check all functions. Worry about flash ic problem. I solved 1 phone with the same condition like yours by hardware.

No, I didn't try pwntool. Did you tried? I flashed with factory ipsw and still not fix the imei so i don't think pwntool would help.

I have the same problem. With Iphone 3g 8gb. I was running 2.2.1, and one day the iphone had no signal and then after reebot, it showed the please connect to itunes. Itunes couldnt read the phone, so i put it in dfu, restored and upgraded to 3.0, and since then the imei is 004999010640000, but iccid is correct. Itunes cannot activate, but i was able to redsnow the phone and run ultrasnow to have it working. But still imei is stuck in 004999010640000. I want to restore the imei back to the original. I have downgraded it to 2.2.1, and it still shows that imei.
    Any suggestions?

Yes, i have searched the issue with every search engine to no avail. I want to change my imei back to the original, but the subject of changing imei seems to be a big no no. I undertand why, but in my case i have no wrong doing in wanting to change it back to the original. My carrier will not honour my waranty because of a 1mm hairline fracture close to the dock connector, which i think is bull.... So i am stuck having to ultrasnow my phone to work with its own carrier...

Bring it to an Apple Store. A Genius will swap it for that crack: it is grounds for in-warranty replacement.
