I thought that if you paid the ETF then you had to get a refund and return the phone?

The ETF seems to be $175, but you will also have to pay an activation fee of $36 and one month worth of service (or $69.00 plus taxes and other related charges), as you will need to keep the service for at least 30 days. You only have to return the iPhone if you cancel the service within 30 days, but you will not be assessed an ETF. There will likely be a penalty if you cancel within 30 days and do not return the iPhone (probably similar to the ETF), but that penalty has not been announced.

easy way around to cancel early:

buy phone. sign up blah blah

say phone was stolen (pray they cant disconnect the service or w/e if they do hope its hackable)

    cancel w/o returning.

    pay fees

    WIN.

Ok first off this is fraud and you will go to jail if you get caught. Second they will blacklist the IMEI on all carriers and the phone will be useless, except for as an iPod Touch. So this would not work because the phone would be blocked on almost all carriers.
