From the sound of it, it looks like the Dev Team has jailbroken the iPhone 2.0 firmware.

So, assuming I can buy a 3G iPhone I can just use the Pwnage Tool and my existing AT&T corporate plan 3G Sim card.....right?

I wanted to buy the phone, but AT&T would not let me saying that I had a corporate plan and they could not even look at my account. They told me that the SIM card is "tied" to the phone, which sounds like bullshit to me. I currently use the 1st gen iPhone with the AT&T chip no problems whatsoever even when I do not "unlock" it, so I assume I could just use this chip with the Jailbroken 2.0 firmware.

yes sir, you are correct, I actually realized yesterday that you can use any AT&T plan in the new iPhone 3G even the prepaid one, as long as the phone is activated of course. But if you manage to get an iPhone contract free as some members of the Forum have been suggesting, you can activate it with Pwnage Tool 2.0 and use your current plan, and just to confirm your thoughts. It is Bullshit from AT&T as usual.

I've been using the first gen iPhone for almost a year now with my Corporate 3G Sim Card (taken from a BlackBerry Pearl).

It really didn't make sense that the in-store AT&T said I would need to get a new SIM chip because "the iPhone is now tied to the SIM card".

No you can't

For some reason if you activate an iPhone 3G using pwnage and not through itunes there is no cell signal.

I don't know if that is because they have not cracked the 3G activation yet or why but you will see that its a common problem.

If you can get your existing SIM activated then you would be ok though.

We’ve made some progress on the baseband unlock of the 3G device, but at this point PwnageTool will not support 3G unlocking or BootNeuter on the 3G device. It is, of course supported on the first generation device with 2.0. We’ll push out an update with 3G support if and when it is completed.
