My friends phone is stuck in recovery and I have tried everything!
It was working fine until I tried updating on iTunes and that sent it into recpvery and it won't come out!
Any advice is welcome!

These both indicate a level of hardware failure with your baseband. Did the phone get dropped or wet? That is usually the cause of this type of hardware failure, though it is possible that it just 'went bad'. Is the device under warranty? Your best bet is likely to bring it to Apple to get it replaced.
