Default [iPhone 3G][Greece] Vodafone > It will be the same story as in Italy ?

In the Greek Vodafone website, you can see that once launched (in Autumn probably) the iPhone 3G will be available to be sold at a no-commitment/no-contract price for 499euros for the 8GB and 569euros for the 16GB.

These prices match EXACTLY the prices that Vodafone Italia charge for the unlocked pay-as-you-go iPhone 3Gs they are selling right now.

So my guess is that it will be the same story, when launched in Greece, later on in the year.

Is there some sort of law in Greece that would prevent apple for locking the device to one carrier (pretty much the same as italy)?? as I'm wondering why it's not latched to a network.

Would be interesting to see, as most of the pay as you go ones which have launched abroad dont seem to be locked so I'm wondering if that is the case for the rest of us, although I dont suppose we would be that lucky
    Agree with what I've said?

I am not sure about the law. But it seems to me that Vodafone will do the same across all countires they will sell the iphone 3G at.

Vodafone Italy and Vodafone Greece seem to be doing the same thing (once it will be launched in Greece). Option to buy it contract-free for the exact same price. It would not suprise me if it was exactly the same in other countires that Vodafone will be selling the 3G iphone.

In Greece only Vodafone will be selling the device. There is no APPLE in Greece, so Vodafone has landed a sole-distributor agreement I guess. No other mobile operator has advertised about the iPhone yet.
