Exclamation Is the iphone 3g a dual-band phone?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the iphone 3g is a dual-band phone. sorry if the term isn't used the correct way but is the iphone like the upcoming blackberry storm in regards to it being able to stitch frequencies to get a signal (roaming). Is edge sufficient to the iphone 3g's internet use. (Is it moderate or does it make you want to pull your hair out?) thanks in advance

I'm also wondering, as I'm moving to Japan in April 2009 and plan to take my phone with me. But since they've expanded to 3G in Japan, I guess I could always use it over the 3G network.

Yes, the 3G can roam, but whether it can connect to Japan's 3G network or not depends on the carrier.

EDGE is not unbearable anyway. If you get used to being in a 3G coverage area and you go somewhere that only has EDGE, then it's annoying. That's really only because 3G is ludicrously fast and EDGE is only moderately fast.
