    Question iPhone 3G de-activating automatically?

    I had a strange thing happen to me today.

    I reset both my iPhone 3Gs - both jailbreaked and they both became deactivated!

    I plugged them into itunes and they reactivated.

    But I have no idea why this happened?

    I did nothing to either of them to make them deactivate.

    It's very odd.

    Has anyone else had this happen?
    iPhone US 8GB
    FW 1.0.2--> iUnlock--> iPhoneSIMfree--> 1.1.1 --> 1.1.2--> Soft upgrade 1.1.3 --> 1.1.4 using signal.app
    iPhone UK 16GB
    FW 1.1.3 OOB --> 1.1.4 --> iPlus 1.2 unlocked!

    This happened to me too after I installed a couple of apps from cydia.

    Apple has previously stated that they would not do anything to explicitly prevent jailbreaking, and they have made good on that promise for all the 2.x firmwares. I don't think that this new spontaneous activation reset is intentional, but the consequences are pretty devastating if you're not close to a computer when it happens.

    My best advice: try not to reboot your phone too often when you're out, or don't reboot after installing cydia apps until you get home.

    This is not a jailbreak only problem either. I have had this happen on a jailbroken phone (twice) and a non-jailbroken completely legit phone (once) running 2.2. When it happened on my non-jailbroken iphone a second reboot cleared it up instead of having to reconnect to itunes. After the second reboot the phone just came up with the message "Phone is activated" and then everything was back to normal. When it happened with my jailbroken phone I had to reconnect to itunes to reactivate it.
