[iPhone 3g] Can i use it on any legal carrier?

Hi, i just want to know if im able to use an iphone 3g i bought in a legal carrier with another sim of another legal carrier...

As far as I know, unless the Iphone 3G is factory unlocked, you are NOT able to do this.

Absolutely correct. only on the factory unlocked iPhones 3G you have the choice of any simcard.

You cannot do this.

iPhone 3G's are carrier locked.

I bought an Iphone in the US with an AT&T contract I canceled the contract after 30 days paid the ETF of $175,00 because I moved to Europe. Then I had a locked Iphone without a provider. As far as I know I am free to use any provider I wish, this was also confirmed by T-Mobile who is now my new provider legally.

I heard the same thing but so far I could not do it. I have an iPhone 3g locked on Orange France and tried to use an Orange Romania SIM (which is the approved carrier for Romania) and it did not work. I talked to Orange Romania and they said that the phones are carrier locked and they will work only with SIMs from the respective carrier. If they lied to me I lie to you

it is disgusting how these bozos mistreat their customers. Globalization is good as long offered only to mafia. iHope ;-) class action lawsuit will teach them a lesson. Designed in California, assembled in China, locked to us.

Actually I have bought an iphone 3g from New Zealand unlocked model number MB500X it takes up to several countries sim no problem, I have travel to Thai, Morocco, Germany and China use their pre-paid sim it works instantly

Thats because they are int. unlocked. You can check the list here

The iPhone 3G acts like the one's from Italy, Greece, Belgium and other countries where Apple 8and their partners) have to sell them unlocked
