Default [iPhone 3G] ATT Can we still get it for $200 by Activating Older iPhone?

Okie So if I activate a older iPhone on my account now, i.e. after July 11th, would I be able to get the 3g for $200? I'm just ready to go, so a quick reply would help.

and would it show up on my account if I activate it now and go to the store in an hour or so?

Also how would be able to cancel the contract, would I have to cancel both contracts, or the newer contract will override the older one?

    A little confused! :p

    thanks

activating has nothing to do with contracts.

ur asking questions that at&t can answer for you, buying a new 3g iphone u needa extend/sign for 2 years. ur first gen iphone has nothing to do with the 3g and its requirements.

All of those that had a 1st gen iphone with AT &T were elegible to get the reduced price of 199/299 (8,16gb).. That is, if u had the 1st gen activated before july 11.

    If u are a new customer to at&t u also get 199 / 299

Obviously these other posters have not addressed the chief concern of whether or not activating an older 2g iPhone on your existing AT&T account will reset your upgrade eligibility so that you may ourchase the 3G iPhone for 199/299.

For what its worth, I asked the same question in another iphone related forum and the answer was yes! At&T said July 11th but they never explicitly mentioned it would not work afterwards. Apparently it still does.

Yep its going to work, confirmed it with a apple store guy, but he was kind of wondering where I would get the phone from.

Although he did confirm this but I dint get the phone that way, I have activated a new line and I'm going to cancel my contract tomo and see what happens.

It wasnt explicitly stated anywhere that its not going to happen after 11th july as you pointed out. thanks!
