i have an iphone 3g carrier O2 from UK and i can't unlock it with any method. but i've been reading that i can do it directly in O2. but i'm from spain and i've never been an O2 customer.

any suggestions?

The only way to officially unlock from O2 is to be a customer of theirs for either 45 or 90 days and then pay them an unlock fee, I believe it's about $30. That said, since you're on a 3G, depending on what firmware and what baseband version you have, there should be a jailbreak and unlock available for your device.

What is the current Firmware revision and (if you know it) what is the current Baseband revision?

I know this guy is on baseband 05.12.01 - and has baseband bootloader 5.9 so no fuzzyband option either.

No such luck at present sir. The new bootloader stops you from being able to flash the baseband and the 05.12.01 baseband stops you from being able to unlock without going through the carrier.

Do you know any O2 subscribers? Have them 'activate' the device on their account and then have them call O2 to get it unlocked, then give them some cash on the side... That seems like the only real answer right now other than buying a brand new, factory unlocked device....

Or waiting until June/July!
