Default How to get 3G iPhone in UK without contract?

    Hi folks,

I've read about various ways of getting out of the contract for US iPhones, but the T+C for O2 appear to be different.

Anybody know of a way to get an iPhone from O2 without contract?

If you buy it, cancel the contract within 14 days, and offer to pay to keep the phone, what price do they want?

    Cheers,
    Rich

an italian iphone is a good solution if you need an unlocked iphone. but if you check on ebay iphones are very expensive. in italy they cost 499 euros but on ebay they cost over 650-700 euros

Yeah you're talking about £400 plus a flight to Italy, and it seems a lot of shops are sold out?

It's a lot of time and money to spend without knowing for sure if you'll definately get a phone!

On eBay they are selling but for well over £500.

I’ve been toying with this idea as well, but the unknowns keep worrying me.

What if I pay 650-700 euros on eBay and Apple do something to stop them working out side the country they are intended for?

I know is not very likely but still nothing is impossible when it comes to apple

How would that work. Then people would be complaining their asses off for not being able to use their unlocked phone because it would be locked. Probably even suing Apple.

Interesting thread this - I too have come to the conclusion that I will probably buy an Italian one off eBay for £500, because this seems the easiest solution?!? But, before doing so I have a few concerns:

    1. Is the phone in English? If not how easy will it be to change the language?
    2. Can these be firware updated via a UK iTunes correctly?
    3. Is there any functionality missing in comparison to a UK 3G iPhone?
    4. Do these defo work on the UK networks (Voda in particular) without the need for TurboSims, unlocking or anything else that could make the phone go wrong?

    Cheers
