I live in a foreign country now and desperately need my iphone to work. But I have the latest iphone with firmware 2.2.1 and modem firmware 2.30.03. How do I unlock my iphone so that I can use a foreign sim card. I jailbroke it today but that didn't do anything useful for me at all. Some help here would be appreciated.

If there is no proven solution, does anyone know when one will come out? I would rather not wait until June when 3.0 software comes out and then wait even longer for an unlock solution.

Is there a way I can downgrade the software?

There isn't any known unlock for baseband 2.30.03. at this time.

No, sorry. Just check the Dev-Team Blog from time to time for news about this.

what about the iphone-unlock.com? is this the same as the old iphone-unlockuk or something that people said just ripped off the dev teams work? it says on their site they can unlock the 2.30.03 baseband.

I am in the same situation, I use rebel sim now and I recommend the same for you

Thats scam, dont waste your money. There is no software unlock for baseband 02.30.03.

Thanks volkspost. That's a real bummer. But why do they have banners on this site? I suppose the convenience of it all and the help they can give for people who don't know anything or don't have time to research...but still.

Anyway, hope a solution comes soon, or at least before the new iphones come out!

Oh you mean banners rotating here? We had this before, you cant force Google-ads to not scroll banners of some companies. I'll tell an admin here, maybe they can do something about it, but as I said...

BTW, I should add that my wife bought this 16gb unit from an Apple Store, specifically asking the salesman if it is UNLOCKED and if she can use it in another country as she is giving it as a present (to me). She called me about this, and though I had my doubts, the price was much more than if it was on a plan.

The guy said yes to all her questions...and even her sister bought a couple of phones from a different applestore, same questions, same answers. I don't think those have been given and tested yet, but it'll probably be the same. I'd return it, but it is now here in Manila, Philippines. I tried it with a sim from a telecom that supports the iphone (if you bought it from them), but it didn't work with that either.

Anyway, just wondering if these two salesmen were just morons, were just told what to answer, just lied to make get a commision, were right and I just got the wrong unit, or just assumed the customer would jailbreak and unlock it herself since they can't "officially" tell them they can.
