    Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and also new to Iphone 3G.

I've just bought an unlocked iphone 3g 8G, when I insert my
T-mobile sim in, it say "no sevice". I checked the firmware version is 2.2.1.

    Hey snake,
You should unlock it again with your sim card in.

    Thank you for your response,

I've been doing some research online and I believe this is the problem iphone 3g had since a lot people having this problem even they have service with AT&T. I've been trying several ways others have done such as:

    1/ Reboot.
    2/ Turn on/off airplane mode.
    3/ Disable 3G.

None of the above works so the only way left is to put the phone to DFU mode to restore it and unlock the phone again.

If it doesn't work then I have to bring it to the Apple store and return it, anybody know in my case, I can return to Apple after I revirgin the phone ?

Do not restore to 2.2.1! Otherwise you will risk not being able to unlock.
If you had unlocked 3G and are on 2.2.1, how did you get to that firmware? Did you use Pwnage or Quickpwn? You needed to use Pwnage from a lower firmware to be able to unlock using Yellowsnow.

I think I got stuck right now and I just firgure out this phone has never been unlocked and can't be unlocked right now since it's running with Firmware version 2.2.1 and Modem Firmware version 2.3.03 and Boot Loader version 6.02.

This is the whole story. I bought this phone from ebay and the guy said it was unlocked and when I received the phone, I beleived it was unlocked.

To this point when I figured out it's never been unlocked since it's running of Firmware version 2.2.1, Modem Firmware version 2.3.03 and Boot Loader vesion 6.02.

Pwnage only able unlock up to Firmware v2.2, Modem Firmware v2.28and Boot Loader v5.08.

    Default i fix mine!!!

Ok i know everyone is wondering why your iphone dont get service and i the i-wiz can tell you why it dont just a heads up airplane mode, 3G on off trick, reset network/settings.. And the famous answer 2 this problem reset/ rejailbreak WILL NOT WORK!!! So dont believe them just a big waste of your time and if it does it will only be for two seconds.. And No your antenna isnt broke like they say !!!!!!

Ok so this is whats funny your iphone dont work cause its looking for the wrong radio tower! Yep one thats 2 far away!

The only way 2 fix this problem is 2 drive your phone out of service do a manual network search settings/carrier it should be on automatic. Note : i have airfire mobile madison wi... So when i click on carrier it has airfire home which is the main tower that it would NOT connect 2. And airfire plus which is there roaming tower. You wanna select the roaming tower when your out of your service boundaries. When you do this you should have your radio in your car on if you hear static through your radio when you select the roaming tower your phone is fixed... It should have fixed your frequency and now your phone isnt lost and knows where you are! So after you successfully connected 2 your alternate tower and you heard the static. Change it back 2 your main tower!! So for me i changed it 2 airfire plus out of my coverage area connected heard static i made a phone call switched it back 2 airfire mobile (the main tower) drove back into town and my phone was fixed!! No bullshizzz.
4-5 bars all day!! When it always said 1-2 bars then searching then no service.

So people there is nothin wrong with your phone its just lost!!!! I hope this helps alot of people i accidentally fixed mine by doing this.
My phone Never worked for 2 months! And i did all the steps above and boom my phone is fixed!

NOTE: if this fixes it i highly recommend that you never take your phone out of service again!
Why you ask? cause your phone might lose where it is then your back 2 square 1 searching/no service!

    Please thank if this helps
