    Smile Help Me?

Hi guys! I've been Googleing for hours and finally stumbled on this site. I hope you can help!

I was given an iPhone and I'm not sure if I can use it or not. I'd like to know how to unlock it so that I can add it to my Alltel account, barring that, I'd like to eBay it.

So, how do I go about figuring out what to do? It's an iPod 3G 16GB.

    Help? Please?

ETA: Also, why won't this phone pick up my wireless like my SIL's iPod Touch?

Is it an iPhone or an iPod?

When you plug it into your computer and start iTunes what gets displayed?

Do you run Windows, Linux or Mac?

    Hi!

It's definitely an iPhone, the back cover says "iPhone" and under that "16G" and then this under that:

"Designed by Apple in California Assembled in China"
"Model No: A124J FCC ID:BCGA1241 IC ID: 579C-A1241"

It has about a page and a half of Apps, I deleted some of them, but really, that's about all I can do with it.

I have it plugged to my laptop right now and it's charging, but it's like my laptop does not recognize it because it won't allow me to load music, change the music that's already on there, ect.

When I open iTunes, nothing really happens at all. It just kind of looks at me like "What now?".

I'm running Vista Home Basic with FireFox V3.5.6.

Thanks so much for your help!!

I did not need to know your web browser, your version of iTunes would be more useful.

When you go to Settings/General/About what does it say under version and modem firmware?

Well, thank you for clearing that up for me.

    iTunes 9

    V 9.0.2.25

Is this the information that you're asking for?

ETA: I see now that you're asking for information off the iPhone itself, which I don't have with me, it's at home and I'm at work. I'll get this information later and post.
