HELP! iPhone 3G ERROR 1002 OCCURED
Hi everyone
I have an iPhone 3G 8gb and I am unable to use it. In its current state, it comes up with the message a restore is needed and it requires to connect with itunes since it has the itunes and usb logo.
I have a PC with itunes 10. I have tried restoring and updating it to the latest firmware in DFU mode but it reaches to just before the end of the process then the error pops up and the restore fails.
Is there anything I can do?
I have looked in many places and it seems this error 1002 is a hardware failure and the IMEI and ICCID numbers are both unknown?
Any help is much appreciated

If you had researched this you would have seen that in almost every case where someone reports a restore or update error - I ask for the iPhone restore log http://www.hackint0sh.org/f137/130802.htm - Without this I can only give very general guidance.
1002 and no IMEI suggest that your baseband is corrupted or there is a hardware problem with the baseband part of the iPhone.
Have you tried updating to a newer baseband version? That can sometimes fix such problems

Hi again
The problem is that I cannot update whatever since it fails
Here is the iphone restore log: http://pastebin.com/KHmQrBbM
itunes version: 10.0.1.22
iPhone OS: assuming >=4.0 (because of iphone default wallpaper
Platform: Windows XP
Unfortunately i bought this off ebay in hope that I would simply restore it but it seems the problem is much worse.
Thanks for the help Olethros

Yes your baseband chip is really not responding. The update process can't initalise wifi. Then when it tries to detect baseband version to determine if it needs to be updated or not. No baseband response (after multiple attempts). A forced baseband update doesn't work either.
Your only fix would be to swap out entire motherboard for a working one. Or maybe a hardware desolder and reprogram of the baseband rom. That is unlikely to succeed though.

Iphone 3G 1002
Hi all!
I have an iPhone 3G 16gb.
I've tried to restore last night and I got an error 1002 message. I tried two different firmwares but keep getting this error. My iPhone now stuck at "Connect to iTunes logo" after the apple logo, but i can't restore the phone.
Here is the Log file: YourPaste - For your paste! - 3G Log
Thank You!
