Unbelievable! Today, almost a week later, I plugged it in and it came back on! So far, all I have is the dead battery with lightning bolt, but seeing the screen light up at all is new! I was just about to put it on eBay for parts, too.
Hopefully, after I leave it plugged in for a bit, we'll be back in business.
(PS no, N41, there's no AT&T contract on this.)

Okay, now it's been a few hours. The screen still shows a battery with just a sliver of red, with a lightning bolt under it. It seems to have charged up, because if I unplug it, it stays on. However, it doesn't go into sleep mode, the power button does nothing, home + power does nothing, I can't go into DFU mode and home button + dock does nothing.
What now?
I think I'll leave it unplugged, drain the battery AGAIN, then see what happens when I plug it in and try to power up. It shouldn't take long with the screen stuck on.

What the hell. It took all night with the screen lit up to finally shut down this morning. Now it's black again, and plugging it in won't bring it back.
The fact that it came on and charged up yesterday, albeit with the screen stuck, makes me think once again that it isn't hardware related.
What am I supposed to do?

Maybe i missed something but why dont you restore it to make sure its not a software issue?
