    Hi everyone.

Has somebody with officially unlocked iPhone used it on a non 3G network?
    Better performance, battery life?

I've turned off 3G and worked off EDGE only on AT&T, it was a bit slower, but the GoogleMaps kept up with the GPS signal even when driving well over the speed limit on the highway

As far as I know, battery life should be better on non-3G networks right?
Anyone from China or Italy on a NON-3G network?

All you have to do is turn off 3G and it will be forced to stay on edge the whole time. Battary is of course better when 3G is off. I have done that and the phone lasts as long as my first gen phone used to.

The new iPhone has this thing of switching between the two types of networks when singnals are weak. If 3G is enabled then priority is 3G and when that signal becomes weak (certain bar number don't know how many) it will automatically switch to edge. That would happen lots during the day if you are in and out of buildings and stuff..my guess is that switching sucks up enough juice out of the battary as well (am thinking because this is a hardware state change)...its just a guess so don't kill me over my thoughts...

I keep it on edge until i need to access safari or youtube or gps. Thats when i switch to 3g. The other thing i keep trying to remind people of is the more times you charge the battery the less life it will have. So why keep 3g on when you don't need it?
