[FYI] YellowSn0w & Baseband 02.30.03
Hi, I bought my iPhone 3G in London, UK onsunday with O2 pay & go and it is locked to O2. I, however, reside in Norway and Germany for the most of the time, so an unlocking would be a lot easier. The problem is that I have firmware 2.2.1 w/ baseband 02.30.03. If I understood correctically, this relieves me for the time being of the oppurtunity to unlock my phone using yellowsn0w? If so, do you reckon they will rebug/fix/update (sorry if my 1337speak is off) the yellowsn0w in the near future so that it is compatible with baseband 02.30.03 and firmware 02.30.03? Is it impossible to downgrade my baseband (guess not, this being apple and all)?
Thanks!

I'm in the same boat. I read the blog post 2 mins too late and now I have a $500 paper weight... or an iPod touch with a camera
Let's just hope the good folks manage to crack the case before too long.

So far, there is nothing you can do. Baseband can't be downgraded yet. And a new Yellowsn0w? we all hope so. Just wait for now

Hello,
could you please post your serial number? You dont have to post the complete serial number for privacy reasons, but just the first 5 numbers or so.
This way we can see in what week the iPhone was produced and other people can check the iPhone they buy to see whether it has the 2.2.1 firmware too!
Does anyone know which of the numbers exactly tells you the week?
*edit* Where exactly did you buy it? At the Apple Store in London?
Greetings, crash-x

New member here who's in the same position with the wrong baseband. I'd like to jailbreak and unlock, but while following instructions from a less than perfect web site, it advised it was okay to upgrade my iPhone through iTunes. I know better now!
Glad I found this site though. Excellent resource. I'm happy to sit it out and wait for the option to downgrade the baseband and start again, or see what new fixes come along for 02.30.03
regards
Colin

Sadly Apple stores have been asked to manually update firmware on all stock prior to new deliveries of a week ago, so week of manufacture is not important now (at least for Apple stores). Not sure if O2/Carphonewhorehouse are doing the same, but Apple stores definately are. Sorry. Bad news for all of us ;-(

WOW that really sucks. How do you know it? I cannot imagine that they opened all the boxes and updated the iPhones...
