I got my iPhone 3G 2 weeks ago at the Apple Store here in Las Vegas and it had the 2.0 firmware with the 01.45.00 modem firmware on it.

Dude, not being funny, but this has been asked about a million times in this thread alone! Read it all the way through and you'll find the answer is no! If you are at BB 02.30.03 then you will either need to wait for a soft unlock (if it ever arrives, it is not a guarantee that it will be completed) or use some form of SIM adaptor that may or may not work / apply all the phone functions.

According to his twiters, the team is going to wait for the next full baseband update in order to try and find a way to hack it. Baseband 2.30.03 was made for the sole purpose of stopping Yellowsnow and I don't think it's going to get unlocked. I guess the good news would be that there is probably a new baseband update coming down the pike with the new iPhone (hopefully in June), so maybe there will be a new unlock this summer.

I doubt 3.0 with the new baseband will be unlocked in the summer give it at least a couple of months. I mean yellowsnow didnt come out until December-January which is a good 5 months + after release of the 3G iPhones

You did a restore from firmware 2.2.1 to 2.2.0 through iTunes but this doesn't mean that you did a degrade for the baseband also!!! So still your modem baseband set to 02.30.03 which mean that you have to wait till dev team get a solution...
