Discuss [FYI] YellowSn0w & Baseband 02.30.03 at the iPhone 3G - Hackint0sh.org; Well, this morning I was on the phone with Apple (UK and Norway), O2 and ...

Well, this morning I was on the phone with Apple (UK and Norway), O2 and the carrier in Norway affiliated with Apple, Netcom, after one refered me to the other, to ask about legal unlocking. Eventually, the service lady at apple uk told me (unprovked) that it's possible to unlock the phone with 3rd party software, but it would void the software warranty. But she of course did not know what basebands were supported.
This iphone business seems a fucking hassle, and apple have seemingly turned into what they dreaded back in the day - a monopolist!
I am still wondering what the prospects for fixing this problem are? I mean, surely there must be tons of people in my shoes?
I may still be able to return my phone, as the clerk said it was possible to contact the carrier in my country affiliated with Apple and unlock the phone, which is false. But I'd still have to wait for the new lock as shortly most phones will be updated, and I'd also have to go to London again.

Hi everyone,
I am quite worried that I might need to send my iPhone in, which of course would result in Apple sending it back upgraded to FW 2.2.1
While I was reading through everyone's posts an ad showed up in the banner thingy on top an out of curiousity I clicked it:
Unlock the iPhone 3G - Unlocking software for ALL iPhone versions including iPhone 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2, 2.1, 2.2 and iPhone 3G!
These people say on their website that they can unlock FW 2.2.1 It's also quite expensive. Can this be true? I totally cannot imagine this to be true. If the dev team can't unlock 2.2.1 (yet) how can possibly anyone else do? It says it's a software unlock...hmmm
Anyone any thoughts?

What they do is jailbreak the iPhone, but actually charging money for it. They combine a lack of information, and some cheap marketing.
I mistakenly upgraded to the vanilla 2.2.1 instead of the pwnaged one, so i have to use the older phone now. At least i have a good stylish paperweight...
For now all i can say is GO DEV-TEAM, AND THANKS!
iPhone 3G / 16GB / Jailbroken v2.2 (Baseband 02.28.00, unlocked via yellowsn0w)
MacBook Pro 3,1 (OS X.5.6 working perfectly with DFU)

Kind of off topic, but I was told when talking to apple on their support line in UK that it is possible to unlock your iphone legally at any T-Mobile dealer in Germany.Yet she was unsure if that would again keep it locked to only German carriers or maybe even only T-Mobile. Does anyone know the proper facts here?
Also, anyone of you guys locked to O2 know if you can use a german O2 sim?
Guess I am kind of settled for now then as I will be able to use my phone when I get to Germany--and by the time I get back (a few months), who knows, maybe Dev Team have kicked up a new brillant crack.

I talked to O2 UK asking about using the iPhone with a German O2 sim.
1.) This is not possible.
2.) She said that they'd at some time get unlock codes from Apple to unlock iPhones (from what I understood they only unlock after the iPhone has been on O2 UK for 12 months).
Right now - she said - they don't have any unlock codes because there is some issue with crashing phones after unlock or sth...hmm sounded a lot like an excuse, but I'd like to stress that she was very nice!
Now I am pondering about activating my O2 UK sim (which I haven't until now) because of even the vague possibility to unlock after 12 months. She confirmed to me too that there will not be any costs for the internet flatrate if cancelled before the 12 months of free access are over.

Hi everybody, today is 16th of February and there are no news about progress in 02.30.03 unlock. Does anybody hear or know smth about yellowsn0w for current baseband, may be some rumors?
iPhone even like iPod is great, but it is terrible to wait

even if its not an unlock, if they could modify bbupdaterextreme to have a downgrade function that would save a bunch of ass right now, surely if it has an upgrader function it has to erase the baseband first then flash the new one right??
Get the latest info for NoAccSplash
Here
Currently it should work on iOS 4.x - 6.x

If you'd like to help extend its functionality, the source is also available.

Any help for 2.2 with baseband 02.30.03?
Hi there,
I also did it accidentally: upgraded the baseband to 02.30.03 but somehow I was able to get my version back to 2.2. But of course - I still can't get any service with my T-Mobile SIM. I have seen one post about downgrading at this link: Comment #29 but I don't trust it as of yet. yellowsn0w 0.9.8
Does anyone have any help for this problem yet? Has anyone tried this fix? Or...are we still screwed at this point?
