As far as I know there was no Persian/Farsi or Arabic language support on 1G (2G?) phones but it seems they have added some functionality to the 3G version.
Now if I go to a Persian or Arabic web site (like BBC Arabic) I can see Arabic characters but in an unreadable/separated format. Does anybody knows what needs to be done to enable viewing of a continues language in 3G?
I guess writing continuously from Right to Left is another story.

Check out www.iphoneislam.com it works perfectly in Arabic (actually even the entire menus can be in Arabic). I believe it works in Farsi as well.
