they will have to ship with 2.0. First, 2.0 is the firmware that contains that switch to turn 3G on and off. Second, it will be released on the same day as the official 2.0, so when steve introduces 2.0 i presume it will be on the new 3G iPhone. also, they would not call it "2.0" unless it was something big: it would normally have been called 1.2.0. But this is "2.0" as it is "version 2," like the "version 2 iphone." a fresh start. Also apple would not ship a new product with an old firmware version on it; if 2.0 is ready when the 3G iphone is, it will have 2.0. You will not see a 3G iphone running 1.1.4, 1.1.3, 1.1.2, 1.1.1, 1.0.2, 1.0.1 or 1.0.0.

And on the note of "2.0 is like a new version," it's like this: The first gen iPhone, when released, came with version "1.0" or "1.0.0." The second gen with come with "2.0" or "2.0.0" It all just makes sense.

    I rest my case

Phone, iPods to be Solar Powered?
    Monday, 26th May 2008, 12:05 pm
A recent patent discovery by MacRumors indicates that Apple is investigating the use of solar power in mobile devices.

Solar power has been investigated for some time by manufacturers; however, major issues such as space and durability have always been a roadblock.

The most interesting technique described by Apple, however, is the integration of the solar panels behind the actual LCD screen of a portable device. The solar panel would absorb ambient light that passes through the LCD screen of the device. This could eliminate any additional footprint typically required by the solar panels. If successfully implemented, Apple's iPhone, iPod and laptops, could require no outward changes in design to add solar power.

MacBook Pro OS X SNOW Leopard
    iPhone 4 16GB iOS 4.2
    iPad WiFi 64GB iOS 4.2
    BlackBerry Curve 3G (9300)

NEWS: French iPhone company Orange witch is schedualed to get the 3G iPhone is offering two methods of discounts to those who already have iPhones.....

A- You could trade in your current iPhone and recieve the 3G version for 50 Euros(About $77 just looked it up)

B- You may keep your current iPhone and recieve a "Generous" discount from the new iPhones retail

This is amazing there encouraging the upgrade we could just hope to god AT&T will offer us something like this.

You will have to extend your contract a further 12 or 24 months with Orange to do that though...

    It's no free lunch :-)
