Digitizer repair options 3G
hi all,
i've got a busted iphone. i was on the phone the other day, and someone bumped into me and knocked the phone out of my hand. the digitizer glass is spidered, but the LCD is fine. i confirmed @ apple that to replace the phone would be $299, and they would take the phone back. so i'm trying to see if there are any cheaper options. i looked at some options online, and found this:
http://www.hyratech.com/product.php?productid=7093
replacement digitizer for $99.
how hard would it be to repair the digitizer on my own? i'm assuming this voids the warranty as well, correct? not 100% positive if that's what i want to do.
i suppose i can try again to plea to apple to replace the phone for free. anyone have any begging tips?
*sigh*

Not hard at all, it is nothing like the prvious iPhone which was glued to the LCD, this version is seperate and opening the case is peanuts too compared to the old one which virtually meant destroying the back or at least bending it. There is a disassembly vid on youtube. Dont have time to post a link now, just search.

thanks guys. i know the digitizer is separate. i was just worried about voiding my warranty, especially if something went wrong. i'll look for the vid and see just how easy it is. even then, i think i'd rather spend $250 and keep a warranty then spend 200 less and not have a warranty... :\

would definatly void your worrenty, and you cant seperate the digitalizer, without cracking or breaking it so ... best get it done by apple

are you talking about the original or the 3g iphone? looking at this vid on youtube, it doesn't look like you need to crack or break anything to remove the glass touch panel/digitizer from the LCD.
can anyone confirm?
