Dev-Team's warning about 3G iPhone jailbreak
I am getting a 3G 16GB phone to replace my 2G 8GB one, it will be unlocked using PowerSim.
My question is regarding the Dev Team's disclaimer that if you jailbreak 3G phones using their tools you reduce the chance of having it soft-unlocked in the future. I would think that a lot of folks who own 3G phones and are running it unlocked also have it jailbroken so the chances are that much higher of a future soft unlock working on all 3G iphones and not just the ones that weren't jailbroken using QuickPwn etc.
I am thinking that I will jailbreak mine, so what are my chances of being left out in the cold once the soft unlock is released? Couldn't I just restore back to whatever firmware it is that I would be using at the time and use whatever process is in place to unlock?
Powersim + x-smim + whatever similar are not UNLOCK.
DevTeam's point is DO NOT UPDATE YOUR BASEBAND beyond the version they are recommending.
At this point, there isn't a SOFTWARE solution to downgrade your baseband once you updated it.
Jailbreaking and unlocking are two different thing.

Does jaibreaking update your baseband as well? I thought it didn't.
Also, isn't PowerSim just a hardware sim-lock if its not an unlock? What's the difference?
