Unhappy Cydia Error... sub-process error code 2/essential updates...

Right so I managed to update to 3.0 and jailbreak it using redsnow.

I've loaded "Cydia" and it says there are some essential upgrades. I think okay lets upgrade....

upgrades are for "Cydia Installer" & "Debian Packager"

select upgrade on the installer and I get the following error in a little box:
    - Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)

The black screen with the dos style screen says:
dpkg: pasre error, in file '/var/lib/dpkg/status' near
    line 26 package 'firmware'
duplicate value for user-defined field 'Name'

so I select okay. Try again and the same thing happens... can anyone help?

I'm not able to install any cydia/icy progs at all...

Any help would be great. Thanks Michael

    Default Same Here...

I've got the same issue, altho when i do the upgrade essentials, it says it is gonna install:
    Bourne-Again SHell
    bzip2
    Core Utilities (/bin)
    Diff Utilities
    Find Utilities
    grep
    gzip
    LZMA Utils
    New Curses
    readline
    sed
    Tape Archive

it goes thru and downloads all those updates and then gives the error in a popup: 'Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)'

in the background it says: "dpkg: parse error in file '/var/lib/dpkg/status' near line 26 package 'firmware': duplicate value for user-defined field 'Name'"

after pressing ok, it then thinks for a second and comes up with the essential upgrade pop-up again

I've tried it before doing a full restore and after doing a full restore. I've tried doing the redsn0w on 2 different computers(win7 and winXP)

    Please help!

I had the same problem right now. I was told by the Poster on iPhone Dev-Team, when installing (Jailbreaking) iPhone 3.0, do not install "ICY" at first, once you upgrade the Cydia entirely, add ICY on later. Although, I am at work right now, i have not try that yet... will give out updates after 5pm.

It works, leave Icy off when you jailbreak and everything works fine.
