This has generally not been possible since the OS 1.x days.
There is also nearly no point. You lose so much information copying contacts via the SIM card.
You should instead use your computer to sync the contacts from your phone to your computer's address book. Then sync the contacts back to your Nokia. On the mac, iSync can do this. On windows you can use Nokia's PC Suite or whatever it is called these days.
Aside from that, people will probably recommend other windows tools, but none they will recommend are free. I also don't know of any that actually offer the functionality you want.

What is the drawback with having a backup copy of your contacts from the phone synced to your computer (or synced over wifi/3G if you have gmail set up via exhange sync)
SIM cards are so incredibly limiting and outdated when it comes to storing contacts. Mobile phone manufacturers have been offering local storage on the phone that exceeded the capabilities of the sim card since at least 1997 and software to sync your contacts back to the PC since that time as well.
