    Default Cannot upgrade/restore!

    Hi everyone!
I 'm new to the community of iphone users and I have an unusual problem. The fact is, I can download apps and podcasts and sync my iphone via itunes, but i cannot upgrade to the 2.2.1 edition or restore (restoring requires ugrading)! Now it's using the 2.1 OS.
I possess the phone for about 10 days and haven't hacked it yet in any way (here in Greece it is sold unlocked).
I have tried from 2 computers... no gain, same result.

I downloaded the 2.2.1 OS from felixbruns, but then when I double-clicked it, it just opened itunes - neither did it upgrade nor restore.

Help me please... Many thanks in advance!
    Mike

PS: Here is the error screen, which I get AFTER the whole 246.4MB have been downloaded.

Cause your iPhone 3G is factory unlocked, check here

there is a link to the correct iPhone firmware, look for version 2.2.1 for iPhone 3G. Use a webbrowser to download the software, this should work.
Then connect your iPhone and Mac/Windows-PC, start iTunes and hit "Restore" while holding shift (Windows) or option (Mac). You'll se a dialog letting you choose the firmware file. Point to the file you just downloaded and let itunes do the update job.

Thanks a lot, eventually I didn't have to do that though, since itunes worked well in the laptop. However, this shift + restore thing is definitely useful. Thanks again
