buy 10 iPhone 3g, return 5 and cancel AT&T w/ in 3 days?
hi guys,
I have theory that is to open a new contract, buy 5 iPhone 3g at $199 and $299, then go to another and buy 5 iPhone 3g at $399 and $499. After all that, come back to apple the next day and return 5 iPhone 3g and ask to cancel At&t. All that should done within 3 days so that you dontb have to pay ETF or first month bill.
Do you think this is possible? If we can return the 5 iPhone 3g that we bought at $399 and $499, and cancel AT&T, this mean we can keep the first 5 that we bought for $199 & $299. That's cheap! What do you all think? Have anyone try this?

Yes, AT&T is very dumb and will let you do that.
Try this also:
- Find a iron chest
- Find some rope
- Go to AT&T store, buy 10 iPhones
- Write a letter to your family
- Put all iPhones in a red box
- Call AT&T and cancel, tell them you will return the phones monday
- Put your Letter over the red box
- Find a river
- Tie the iron chest with one end of the rope
- Tie both your feet with the other end of the rope
- Jump in river
Thanks

No excuse for rudeness agreed - but its a pretty dumb suggestion and of course AT&T aren't gonna just say 'yeah - go for it'

If you return the ones with contracts, you get the contracts canceled and $200/$300 back.
If you return the no-commitment ones, there are no contracts to cancel, and you get $400/$500 back.
They're not going to cancel any contracts if the phone you're returning is a no-commitment one. They're not going to give you back $400/$500 for the $200/$300 phones either.
You're also completely ignoring the fact that they check each returned phone's serial number.

He still is getting them with a commitment as an 'early upgrade' (the no-commitment price is $499/599 and isn't available yet).
OP's trying to cancel AT&T within 30 days on the entire account... What AT&T might do is honor the contract in place prior to the second set of iPhones purchased (which in this case being the 399/499 purchased 'early upgrades') and subsequently require every phone to be returned (since this is before day 31) or refuse to close the account. So, it's really just the same as buying the 3G phone(s) and attempting to cancel before the 30 days; only porting out has been proven to be marginally successful in forcing ETFs during the 30-day window.
I seriously doubt AT&T, Apple, or BestBuy will let anyone buy additional 3Gs a couple days after the initial 3G purchases (and account activation) though.
