Hey guys, I have a simple question for those of you who already have a jailbroken iPhone.
I have an iPod touch (jailbroken) and planning to buy an iPhone but I really need to be able to "background" the phone app and do other things at the same time as the phone call is ongoing.
Is this possible with backgrounder or is the call going to end as soon as I try to do something else?
My plan is to do some VNC stuff and the like over 3G, so I need to know if it's doable. I know it is on the N95 and other smartphones though.

You can do it what you want while you when phone calling is ongoing. ( you can not use edge when phone calling is ongoing.)

And is 3G also disabled during the call? or 3G works and edge doesn't?

you don't need backgrounder for that. Just press the home button while you are in call and the call will be sent to the background and you can do whatever you want with it meantime. You can bring back the phone function by taping the green bar at the top of the screen.

So I can leave the call on the background and do other things, but hexe said not over edge. Is the 3g connection still available during a call so apps that use it can reach the net?

Yep, you can use the internet while on the phone.

The iPhone 3G can access WiFi or 3G during a phone call, but not EDGE or GPRS. This is limitation of the GPRS/EDGE protocols. So if you need to perform network tasks while on a phone call, the best suggestion is to make sure you have good 3G or WiFi signal.
