I've just about had it with having no iphone since I lost mine 2 months ago (i know OUCH!) and have been looking on ebay for new ones- I figure with the announcement of the new 3G S they might drop a little in price...anyway is there anyway to tell from the information on the box which firmware they might come with if they are a sealed unit?

I will need to unlock anything I buy so I don't want to end up with an expensive phone I can't use!
When I bought my original 2G 8GB one you could kind of workout which firmware it came with from the serial no's so was hoping for the same thing this time round....

Not that I know of, but I don't think it will matter soon....

so I should just hang on for 3.0 bascially?!

I think what Confucious means is that there might be a software unlock for the 3.0 (and hopefully latest basebands) sometime after it's release on June 17th!

So, yeah, you might want to hang on till the 3.0 firmware and the new iPhone 3GS is released. You might get one that can be easily unlocked for cheaper!

Then, you can wait one more week. The 3.0 release will be out on June 17th and, hopefully, the Dev Team will release the jailbreak and the unlock. I think that on June 19th, we will have it
