Default [Advice] total "get out of contract" price on family plan?

So my friend has a legit iphone contract. I was wondering if it would be less for me to add a line in his family plan with the 3G and then cancel after the thirty days? I know the one month service would cost less but what about the activation fee and ETF? Does anyone know the total cost of doing it this way as opposed to the $480 to do it with a standalone contract?

You have to pay the ETF of 175 for each phone number you have on the plan + the 36 dollar activation fee. Its basically the same as a standalone plan except for the monthly payment.

But does anyone know the monthly charge on a family plan? I would assume it is like $10 for the line plus data?

So can someone confirm that the price of the phone after canceling on a family plan after 30 days would be 200 + 175 + 36 + 40 = 451 + tax? Is that correct? or are there any other charges I am not thinking of? Thanks!

    $323 to purchase ($299 + tax)
    $36 to activate phone contract
$75 for first month of phone contract
    $175 to cancel phone contract
    $608 TOTAL

is what I come up with for the 16GB.
