3g wont restore - anyone help?

iTunes version - 9.2
iPhone OS version - before 3.1.2/ failed going to 4.0
Platform - windows x64
OS Version - win7

Looks like it fails at the end of restoring the iPhone filesystem. Try a different USB cable or a different computer.

i used a mates computer in the end and it worked fine although i still have an issue as i tried to restore my mums 2g and i had the same issue

so it seems to be my laptop, any fix apart from re-install itunes? i tried that the first time and i had no effect

i also have another 3g to do but dont want to start as it will do it again

EDIT: Issue solved, removed itunes, quicktime, bonjour, apple mobile device service etc etc, re-installed and job done
