3G STUCK after - Erase all contents & settings
iPhone 3g, downgraded from 4.01 to 3.1.3 custom fw.
Than apps (Cydia and 3rd part )start crushing, except original iPhones.
Than I start "erase all contents and settings"
process takes about 1,5h. phone freezes, i did hard resset (power+home)
after that only Apple logo.
1.DFU mode - PC dont recognized anything connected
(from off - 10sec power+home, than 10 sec home)
(or 5sec power, than 10 sec Powr+Home, than 10 sec Home)
2.Recovery mode - PC dont recognized anythign connected
(hold Home when connecting dock, until iTunes pic shows)
Replaced Dock Connector flat cable (#4) with new.
When phone is off, connecting to PC or wall charger it wakes up, only Apple logo. Means PC/Charger to iPhone connection works.
After reinstalling XP sp2, to XP sp3, when connected PC recognized UNKNOWN USB DEVICE / Malfunctioned device
Tried in Apple store on MAC, it dont recognize anything connected.
Tried another usb cable and ports, the same.
iPod 2g works on same cable and PC.
What to do?

Have you tried to put it into DFU mode when on wall charger? Then transfer the phone to your computer

simple way dfu 10+10s.
but pc dont recognize anything connected!
read somewhere on forum for an "special" dfu mode, something about 45s, but for 3gs?! and there was the thing with doing dfu on charger.
when the signal goes from pc/charger to phone, phone wakes up or charge
but, when phone has to send signal to pc (dfu /recovery), nothing happens.
the dock connector is new.
where could be the problem?
connectors? (opened, checked, cleaned with alcohol the flat side and board side, everything seems to be ok.)
p.s. sometimes not always, when phone in recovery mode or dfu, stays about 15 min connected to pc, and when i disconnect it, after about 2-3 minutes i hear the "disconnecting sound" from pc...
I am also having a similar problem, as the phone will not respond to anything at all. I had it jailbroken, with iOS 3.1.2, and when i did the erase all content and settings it just sits there with the apple and the spinning circle. I've searched extensively, and have not found a solution to my problem. Connecting to either PC or Mac has not produced any results, and no combination I have tried of holding home and sleep/wake buttons works. No response when I try to hard reset, and holding home while connecting to a computer doesn't do anything either.. The computers will not recognize the device at all. I have also tried multiple genuine apple usb cables, as well as a couple of generic ones with similar results. Any thoughts on getting my phone to work again?
The problem WAS hardware.
surfing through similar problems, found this !
"James" had same simptoms: iPhone not recognized by PC,
and the reason is this
Thought I was gentle when opening the case ...
but i'm not ! as he said
"It seems I broke a little capacitor near connector #4 of the logic board when I disconnected this connector with a screwdriver!!! "
Thanx James !
check yours boards for cracks or similar problems ... google for motherboard pic and count your capacitors ... but with magnifier !!!
p.s. Thanx to all people interested in my problem!
